House – Update

Just a general update as to where things are.

The skip arrived so the jumbo bags we have been using to hold rubble, aswell as both dustbins have been emptied. Unfortunately we could only just about fit it thought the driveway posts so when Wickes came to deliver the cement, pea shingle, ballast and 20mm shingle we had to put them in front of the skip.  The delivery from Wickes has been moved into the garage for security and ease of access later.

The trench for the new drain has been dug at the side of the house and we have put in a new run from the utility room into the main drainage system aswell as add a kitchen sink drain rather then the pipe going cross the wall.

All Carpets have been chucked.  Radiators are out and I am removing the copper pipe as I come across it. The gas is shutoff at the main valve but I am getting someone that is Gas Safe around to seal the gas off so I can then remove the pipe work and old cruddy fire aswelll as the boiler system.

The bathroom has now been gutted apart from the toilet until the one downstairs is completed.  The wall has been removed and I also removed the door frame.  In this house they have metal door frames which are a bugger to get out, the frame itself is installed as the wall is being built so there are 3 places along either side and 2 at the top where it’s binned into the brickwork and is a messy job getting them out.  After a quick cleanup it’s ready for the next stage.

Chasing for the electrical sockets have started, we did have the sockets marked at 9″ inches (22cm) above the floor but new regulations require the sockets to be 16 inches (42cm) above the floor (this is only for new builds but I can see the reasoning’s behind this and I am happy to place the sockets at this level), this is part of Part M building regulation I believe.  We are are now going to be looking at putting the new ring main in and choosing where I want lights to go.

Bedroom 3 has been stripped of wallpaper, the walls are pretty bad so I might just paper them and then paint over them.  I will fill a section of one wall first and see if it comes up well and then decided whether to paper and paint or just go straight onto painting.

Below is a mixeup of the rooms and work that has been carried out so far.(this is actually the house gallery so everything, even newer pots will display the image in here, I cant be bothed to be doing new albums at this time as i uploaded all the pics in one go and too many to put up as singlepics.
